In 2024, as a voluntary project designer and co-creation expert, I participated in the first phase of the project ‘Light a Candle to Bring a Dream to Life’ initiated by Hangzhou Gongshu Dishui Public Service Centre. We worked with autistic youth on designing, making and selling 10,000 scented candle products whose main visual elements were designed referring to their extraordinary paintings. The profits from this project will be fully dedicated to supporting autistic youth’s sustainable livelihood. A portion of the profits will go directly toward their remuneration. Another portion will be allocated to scaling up the project, including marketing, training and procuring ingredients. The remaining profits will fund rehabilitation training and psychological counseling for autistic youth.
